What Is Dry Eye?

Dry eye is a common eye condition that occurs when your eyes struggle to produce the right quality or quantity of tears to keep your eyes comfortable.

Meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD) is a common source of dry eye, which can cause your tears to evaporate faster than normal. Without treatment, you could increase the risk of developing an eye infection or vision problems.

Combining Treatment & Comfort

We want you to have a complete understanding of how we manage your eye comfort, so please feel free to ask any questions you have at any point during your appointment. After your treatment, we can perform a meibomian gland expression to help further soothe your symptoms and provide a post-treatment kit to help maintain your eye comfort.

Each treatment is personalized to your needs, and we proudly use technologies like Forma-I radiofrequency, Lumecca IPL therapy, Umay Rest, as well as other strategies to help you find relief.

Forma-I Radiofrequency

Our Forma-I radiofrequency (RF) technology is among our most comprehensive treatments for dry eye, and it can also help address several aesthetic concerns.

This treatment works by delivering radiofrequency waves deep within your skin tissue to help produce heat. When placed on your eyelids, this heat helps loosen blockages in your eyelids causing your dry eye symptoms. This treatment promotes a healthy tear film, helping you achieve comfortable vision without symptoms of dry eye.

Forma-I RF treatments are quick, easy, and convenient, providing you with results in just a few short treatments! It can also promote collagen production in your skin, giving the areas around your eyes a younger, healthier appearance. Learn more about how it can help address your potential aesthetic concerns by visiting our Beauty & Aesthetics page today.

Umay Rest Dry Eye Treatment

For an at-home strategy to help manage the effects of dry eye, we can also recommend Umay Rest technology. This digital eye mask combines warming and cooling sensations to help soothe dry eye symptoms and improve your overall quality of sleep. We may also recommend this technology to help manage digital eye strain symptoms brought on by long hours looking at a digital screen.

Lumecca Intense Pulsed Light Therapy

Lumecca intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy is a comprehensive way to treat and manage dry eye symptoms caused by meibomian gland dysfunction. Lumecca IPL targets the underlying inflammatory processes that can lead or contribute to Meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD).

During the treatment, we place the Lumecca IPL device over your eyelids where it will deliver gentle pulsations of light energy. The skin on your eyelids absorbs this energy, transforming it into heat, which then loosens and melts away blockages in your eyelids causing dry eye symptoms.

You might experience a slight tingling sensation during your treatment, and you might develop some slight redness in the areas you treat, but this is normal to the process and not a cause for concern.

You could experience results immediately after your appointment, but we typically recommend multiple treatment sessions to help maintain your eye comfort.

Lumecca IPL is also effective for treating a range of aesthetic concerns like age spots, sun damage, rosacea, and varicose veins. It helps by gently heating deep layers of your skin using specific wavelengths of light. While Lumecca IPL cannot be used on every skin type, our team will work with you to determine the best treatment plan. ZEST Treatment of Demodex & Blepharitis

Conditions like blepharitis (eyelid inflammation) and demodex mites can also increase the risk of dry eye. In these situations, our team can recommend Zocular Eyelid System Treatment (ZEST) to help clean and debride your eyelids so you can get back to enjoying your eye comfort.

We apply the ZEST gel to the margins of your eyelid and work it into a lather to help deep clean your eyelids. This deep clean helps to remove bacteria or debris that can cause your dry eye symptoms.
