Lumecca intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy is a comprehensive way to treat and manage dry eye symptoms caused by meibomian gland dysfunction. Lumecca IPL targets the underlying inflammatory processes that can lead or contribute to Meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD).
During the treatment, we place the Lumecca IPL device over your eyelids where it will deliver gentle pulsations of light energy. The skin on your eyelids absorbs this energy, transforming it into heat, which then loosens and melts away blockages in your eyelids causing dry eye symptoms.
You might experience a slight tingling sensation during your treatment, and you might develop some slight redness in the areas you treat, but this is normal to the process and not a cause for concern.
